SildenafilTablet

[AJ to confirm]

  • A prescription tablet for erectile dysfunction, prescribed if appropriate

  • Reviewed by a licensed provider, with ongoing support included

Sildenafil is a PDE5 inhibitor, supplied as a plain tablet and taken ahead of time on the schedule your provider sets. A licensed provider assesses whether treatment is appropriate and guides your dose and care over time.

No membership feeSame price at every dose

How to take it?

Use your treatment exactly as directed by your licensed provider. Your provider will determine the appropriate dose, schedule, and method of use based on your health history and treatment plan. You’ll receive medication-specific instructions with your treatment, and your care team is available through secure messaging if you have questions along the way.

What are the possible side effects?

Side effects vary from person to person. Sildenafil commonly causes headache, flushing, indigestion, nasal congestion, dizziness, nausea, and temporary vision changes such as a blue tint or increased sensitivity to light. More serious risks can include a prolonged or painful erection lasting more than 4 hours, sudden vision or hearing loss, severe low blood pressure, fainting, chest pain, or allergic reactions. Sildenafil should not be used with nitrate medications or riociguat because the combination can cause a dangerous drop in blood pressure, and additional caution may be needed with certain heart conditions or medications that lower blood pressure. Your licensed provider will review your medical history, current medications, risks, and contraindications and provide medication-specific safety information before prescribing. Seek prompt medical care for severe or concerning symptoms.

Talk to your provider about any side effects you experience.

Taken ahead. Nothing else changes.

Sildenafil blocks PDE5, the enzyme that closes the blood vessels down again. Arousal is what opens them; sildenafil is what stops them closing early.

  • Take it ahead of time

On the schedule your provider sets, and once in a day — never twice.

  • Arousal still does the work

It will not start anything on its own. It clears what was getting in the way.

  • Food and alcohol matter

Your provider will tell you how to time around a heavy meal, and what alcohol does alongside it.

Sildenafil or tadalafil —which is right for you?

These two have not been directly compared. A licensed provider decides which, if either, is appropriate for you.

Two prescription tablets. The difference is when you take it, not how it works. A provider reviews your visit and recommends the fit.

Frequently asked questions about sildenafil

When do I take it?

Ahead of time, on the schedule your provider sets, and once in a day — never twice. Timing is part of the prescription rather than something to work out yourself, and a heavy meal beforehand changes it, so your provider will go through that with you.

Will it work every time?

It works with arousal, not instead of it. If it is not doing what you want, that is a dose conversation rather than a dead end — message your provider and they can change the dose, or move you to tadalafil.

How is it different from tadalafil?

Both are PDE5 inhibitors and both are plain tablets. Sildenafil is taken ahead of time; tadalafil can be taken ahead of time or as a smaller daily dose. Which one you are prescribed is your provider’s decision, made from your history and everything else you take.

What must I not take with it?

Sildenafil and tadalafil are PDE5 inhibitors. Do not take either with a nitrate medicine or riociguat — together they can cause a severe drop in blood pressure. A licensed provider reviews everything you take before deciding.

Certain heart conditions, alpha-blockers and other blood-pressure medicines need extra caution too.

When should I get medical help?

Seek prompt care for an erection lasting more than four hours, sudden vision or hearing loss, fainting or chest pain. These are rare, and they are the ones not to wait on.
